A Short Talk With Paige Braley, Founder of The Beauty Boost Cincinnati

Happy Friday everyone! It is the first Friday of 2023, and I am so excited to share with you my brief interview with Paige Braley, founder of The Beauty Boost Cincinnati. If you are somebody who feels stuck, optionless, or stagnant in your career, I think you will relate so much to Paige. Let's get into it!

The Beauty Boost was founded by Rachel Kerr in 2015 in Columbus. It was a way for like-minded women to come together and feel empowered, healthy, and beautiful. The Beauty Boost would host monthly gatherings where women could do anything from share their small business to workout together.


Paige came into the business for the first time in 2017 when she reached out to Rachel Kerr with interest of franchising The Beauty Boost in Cincinnati. At first, Rachel declined, however in 2020 Rachel reached out again to express interest in the expansion of The Beauty Boost.


Paige had been a traveling dancer. When COVID-19 struck in 2020, shows were canceled and Paige was left without a career. When Rachel reached out to Paige, Paige was at an all time low. She did not have a passion for the her full-time job and she was experiencing depression and anxiety around where her life was supposed to go. Paige almost declined Rachel's invitation at first. However, with her husbands encouragement, Paige decided to give The Beauty Boost one more shot, and she's never looked back.


Why did you decide to become a business owner? Was it something you always saw yourself doing?


No, not really. I had never seen myself as an entrepreneur. However, I had always had a knack for management. Even when I was little selling girl-scout cookies, I would map out the neighborhood or keep track of my earnings. However, my family has had such a deep history in singing, dancing, and performing that I kind of just went down that path because it felt like the right thing to do. Reflecting on my time as a business owner, I realize that I grew into the role just as much as the role grew to me.

What are some of your missions at The Beauty Boost?


The Beauty Boost is aimed at creating a space where like-minded women can inspire and motivate each other. Overall, The Beauty Boost hopes to aid women in living a happier life. Their five core values are fun, empowerment, realness, positivity, and friends.


All summed up, The Beauty Boost women try to refrain from being extremists. Yes, they will make to-do lists or plan their workouts, but they will also enjoy that glass of wine at the end of the day or the pizza at their best friends birthday party. Life is all about balance.


What are your goals for The Beauty Boost in the future?


Well, The Beauty Boost has seen significant growth in the past two to three years. We have franchised in 17 cities and growing. One main challenge with all that growth has been maintaining a consistent brand. Of course, we want each of our franchised cities to feel like that city or that owner, but some consistency is important for professionalism and growth.


So, we are currently grappling with making the next jump. We want to invest in a marketing coordinator since we really think we can grow this business with some money invested. We saw significant growth when we created a branding book in February of 2022 for our franchised cities and reorganized our website to be consistent and professional. That's when national brands really started recognizing us and working with us.

What is the best part of owning The Beauty Boost Cincinnati?


Owning this company really gave me an opportunity to explore myself. I have made so many connections, not just "laughing friendship connections" but deep, emotional connections. I've also been able to meet a diverse group of women who share similar goals outside of school or work where people typically find and make connections.


It was scary to quit my job and lose the trusted, weekly deposit in my bank account. But, the loss of that made me work so much harder to make my dreams a reality.
